Thrive on the other side of...
War. Disaster. Strife. Loss.
In the aftermath of combat and trauma, we can be broken by physical, emotional, and moral injuries. Or we can be resilient by learning how to thrive on the other side of it through the mastery of skills and tools in the context of community engagement.
Our mission is to prevent veteran suicide by reshaping the trauma of war into an experience of resilience and positive growth through community education, training, outreach and storytelling.
For years Brookfield Institute has provided trauma resilience training. The suicide of Belchertown Marine Corporal Jeff Lucey, after he returned home from his deployment to Iraq, inspired the Institute to apply this expertise to traumatized veteran populations.
